Constantine meets with Papa Midnite at his club and formulates their plan to trap the hunger demon Mnemoth by using John's friend and fiending heroin addict Gary Lester as bait. After an uneasy night wrestling with the ghosts of his dead friends, John wakes at dawn to set their trap atop Midnite's high-rise building. Using voodoo magic Midnite calls down Mnemoth and John traps the demon inside Lester's body with binding tattoos carved into his skin. Recognizing that the demon and Lester have to consume one another, Midnite places Lester in a cell inside his building and bricks him up inside. John exits the building to find his ghosts welcoming Gary Lester into their group.
